Self-host and export

Your app, your code, and servers of your choosing.

Download your app's code at any time or push it to GitHub. Run the whole Appbricx platform on servers you control with Docker Compose and a one-time license, or have us install and operate it in your own AWS, GCP, Azure or private network.

How to take it with you

  1. 1

Export: download a ZIP of the project, or connect GitHub in project settings and push. You get standard React, TypeScript and SQL files plus the contract.

  2. 2

Self-host: on a Linux host with Docker, run the setup script with your domain, then docker compose up. Postgres, the API, the WebSocket server, the web app and Caddy for HTTPS come up together.

  3. 3

Point your CLI and agents at your own install with appbricx login --api, and apply the same contracts there.

terminal
# on Ubuntu 22.04 or 24.04 with Docker and Compose
DOMAIN=app.example.com EMAIL=you@example.com \
  ./deployment/docker/setup.sh
docker compose --env-file deployment/docker/.env up -d

# point the CLI and your agent at your install
appbricx login --api https://app.example.com/api
appbricx apply # the same contract, on your servers

No lock-in, by design

  • Export the code

Standard React, TypeScript and SQL files plus the contract, as a ZIP or a push to GitHub.

  • Portable contracts

appbricx pull writes the contract to appbricx.json and appbricx apply builds it in any project, on the cloud or your install.

  • Docker Compose stack

Postgres with pgvector, a migrator, the API, the WebSocket server, the web app and Caddy for HTTPS.

  • Modest hardware

A Linux host with 2 vCPU and 2 GB RAM at minimum, 4 GB recommended, plus a domain and ports 80 and 443.

  • Your backups

pg_dump the database, and add optional read replica, point-in-time recovery or scheduled dump sidecars.

  • Run by us, in your cloud

We install, update and operate Appbricx in your AWS, GCP, Azure or private network.

Templates are contracts you can apply anywhere

The ten showcase apps are published as templates: complete contracts you can apply as is on Appbricx Cloud or your own install, then change.

Self-host and export: common questions

Can I self-host Appbricx?

Yes. Run it on your own Linux servers with Docker Compose. Production use needs the Appbricx Self-Hosted License, a one-time fee with 12 months of updates, and your version keeps working after that. Evaluation and development need none.

Do I own the code of my app?

Yes. Export your app's code, schema and workflows at any time as a ZIP or a GitHub push. You license the platform that runs it, not your own work.

What does the self-hosted stack include?

Postgres with pgvector, a one-shot migrator, the API, the WebSocket server, the web app and Caddy for HTTPS.

Can Appbricx run in our own cloud without us operating it?

Yes. We install and operate it in your AWS, GCP, Azure or private network so your data stays where it has to.

Your coding agent builds it. Appbricx runs it.
